Nestled in Upper Rockridge, one of Oakland’s most coveted neighborhoods, this beautifully updated, mostly single-level 1938 home offers timeless design, abundant natural light, seamless indoor-outdoor living, and an overall welcoming vibe.

Step into the formal living room, where a stately fireplace and large picture windows make you feel instantly at home. Light pours in, the garden views are dreamy, and the space is perfect for everything from cozy mornings to game nights and gatherings.

The thoughtfully updated kitchen is as functional as it is stylish. Richly colored cabinetry, a double wall oven, generous counter space, and a broad breakfast bar make this a natural hub for both cooking and connecting. It flows effortlessly into the dining and family areas, and a charming Dutch door leads directly to a sprawling Brazilian Teak deck—perfect for entertaining or enjoying a quiet moment with views of the yard, the city, and the Bay.

On this level there are also three spacious bedrooms, including an ensuite with a walk-in shower, one with San Francisco views, and two looking out over the garden. Downstairs? A total treat: a private suite with a spa-like bath, walk-in closet, and direct access to the lush backyard. Perfect as a primary retreat, guest space, or second living area.

Outside, the lush gardens feel like your own secret oasis—think mature plantings, colorful trees, and multiple patios just waiting for weekend BBQs or evening wine time. The real surprises are the hidden elevated fort and set of swings under the deck, creating a fun zone worthy of hours of play.

But wait—there’s more! The 600+ square foot garage has been transformed into a super-flexible space—home gym? Art studio? Office? You decide. Plus, the laundry area is next-level, featuring a wet bar and a waterfall island that might make folding laundry actually…fun? No need to worry about car charging, as there is already a charger installed in the huge driveway.

This special home is tucked between the lively Rockridge and Montclair neighborhoods, you’re just minutes from Hillcrest Elementary, great eats, cute shops, scenic East Bay parks, and BART. It is the perfect blend of timeless style, comfort, and ease; you really just won't want to leave!

A Letter From the Sellers:
Welcome to 5207 Masonic Avenue. This has been our home for nearly 6 years — this was the home where we brought a new baby, weathered a pandemic, switched careers (both of us!), hosted impromptu Sunday night dinners and ultimately longed for family, which is the only reason we are leaving. It is our deepest wish that a family will create beautiful, cherished memories in these walls, as we did.
Sharing some of our favorite things about the house.
–The light - every room is filled with light and how and where it hits, depending on the time of day and year, is a special gift each day. But the light from all sides ensures that the house is cheery and the sunsets at night off the deck, are breathtaking. On many nights, we’d stop ourselves mid-conversation to say “It’s pretty out, do you like pretty?” and catch a glimpse of the fading pink, as it dipped below the horizon.
–The layout of the house - having almost everything on one floor is such a gift — but then having our private retreat downstairs, makes it a relaxing oasis. It’s integrated into the garden level and just off the laundry, so makes so many things accessible and easy when you want to unwind at the end of the day.
–The garden – in all the years we lived here, we only spent one birthday out of the house. The rest of the time, we covered the deck and garden with friends, BBQs, karaoke parties and pinatas. You can’t beat the deck views and you can’t beat the space to roam around and have small groups mingle. The little swingset and mini lookout are a favorite of the kids and we really managed to spend a ton of time out here.
–The kitchen — the open kitchen and dutch door onto the deck makes for an amazing entertaining home. We hosted many dinners and superbowl parties here with friends and their kiddos. People were always buzzing about in the cheery space and easy indoor/outdoor access allowed for kids to roam in and out as they made their sway to the swing set and hide and go seek, while we set the food out and busily cooked along.
–The location - Upper Rockridge is California living at it’s best but having Rockridge, Montclair and Temescal all within a stones throw (and don’t miss Village Market!) plus having it be in the Hillcrest Elementary school zone, a phenomenal K-8 public school, we had the best of many worlds. We absolutely adore the neighborhood and what it has to offer in nature too — Brandon spent many, many days hiking Redwood Regional and we launched to the beach, Marin and farther off destinations on many a weekend to take advantage of all that Northern California offers.
–The community - the night before we left, we popped into our neighbor Pamela and Andrew’s house to say goodbye and they coincidentally were hosting a goodbye party for their daughter’s friend who was also moving to NY. My kids could NOT leave without saying goodbye to these friendliest of neighbors who truly adored our children and gave us at least 75% of the persimmon fruits each year. But neighbors abound in all directions, many of whom went to school with the kids at Hillcrest and others who we know as avid walkers, avid dog walkers and avid chitchatters. Kiwi, the neighborhood pig is a must see. I ran these hills enough times to know their nooks and crannies well. They are sweet blocks and Halloween on Proctor is a must not  miss.
There is so much more to say about this gem of a house — it really is a home. Wishing you the very best in your search for your home. And if it’s this one, I hope you absolutely adore it — we do.

Best wishes,
Michele + Brandon
